Yerba Buena: The weekend saw the long-awaited debut of the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and with it, Cafe on the Square. Set just to the right of the main entrance, the cafe is billing itself as offering "an array of Jewish delights with a contemporary twist", which on Day One, meant smoked salmon onion tarts, baked cod, white bean/onion soup and, um, Caesar salad. The patio, right alongside Ducca's own renowned al fresco area, should be a big winner too. Slightly objectionable yesterday was the fact that you had to actually buy a ticket to get in the cafe, but we're told that going forward, that shall not be the case (we'll see). As always, further reports from the scene are encouraged. 736 Mission Street, between Third and Fourth; (415) 655-7800; website
