Eater Inside: Halu

To balance out the fancy gold threads of Michael Mina earlier this week, here we have Halu, the humble Japanese newbie tucked away in the foggy confines of the Inner Richmond. It's the product of the husband-and-wife team of Shigemi and Mimi Komiyama. Aside from the closet size, the thing that makes the 25-seater's look unique though, is the myriad vintage rock posters and paraphernalia adorning it, with everyone from the Beatles and Hendrix to Shig's own band (The Shitones) represented. The vibe is decidedly peace-love-rock, and we're told the counter is fun place to sit. Early reports from Halu—which serves non-sushi dishes like yakitori, ramen etc.—have been encouraging, and given its limited seating, expect wait times to increase as word continues to get out.
