EaterWire: Action at Cilantro, YoCup This Weekend

POLK GULCH—Believe it or not, there's action at Cilantro Grill, the plywood vet whose bright paint job makes it easy for neighbors to notice the year-long stasis: "...it seems as though some action is finally occurring there, after more than a year. I saw them setting up inside with tables, chairs, and a new paint job outside. Also, this [photo, right] from yesterday (7/2), finally bringing in some food!" [EaterWire]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT—The next surge of the froyo wars are well underway, with the first generation of purveryors now opening their second branches. Opening its first offshoot on Saturday is Rincon Center's YoCup. It will be at 685 Market Street, between Third Street and New Montgomery. Get excited. [EaterWire]

MARIN—Tyler Florence's new store just opened in Mill Valley, and already Food Network sends word that it's going to be the scene for their new show Dear Food Network. From the desk of the Food Network: "We are looking for San Francisco locals to attend a live taping at Tyler Florence's new store in Mill Valley on Monday July 7th, 2008. If you're interested in being a part of a lively party atmosphere please e-mail us your contact information (e-mail, phone number) and a recent photo at foodnetworkseries@gmail.com with "Mill Valley Audience" in the subject line. Come celebrate the opening of Tyler's new store and our new Holiday Series, Dear Food Network! You must be available all day." [EaterWire]

And with that, we'll see you back here on Monday after fireworks, rockets' red glare and the rest of the Independence Daze. As always, feel free to send along your sightings, news, gossip, etc. The tipline operators don't get a break.
