Now that the California Restaurant Association has sued the City and its menu labeling ordinance, the real reason for the lawsuit is to avoid being vexed: "[CRA] President Jot Condie said the San Francisco ordinance was inflexible and would hurt local restaurateurs. Condie said the issue should be handled at the state-level to avoid a vexing patchwork of local laws." For what it's worth, a similar lawsuit was rejected in NYC because it did not violate the First Amendment. [SFE, previously]
