Yountville: Yesterday, Eating Las Vegas brought forth what Eater LA called an "unconfirmed but pretty solid rumor" regarding a possible Vegas location of Burgers and Half-Bottles, within the confines of The Venetian. Regardless, this got us thinking about the status of Thomas Keller's Yountville burger project of the same name, which has been en route for what seems like forever. You'll recall that it was approved by the city way, way back in January to go into a space connected to Ad Hoc, but now we're hearing that the Ad Hoc addition plan is no longer happening. We're still awaiting official word from Keller's people, but someone at Ad Hoc confirms that Burgers and Half-Bottles is definitely not going in an adjacent space as planned.
At the time of the January approval, our source on the scene said Keller was never too ecstatic about the small size of the space (1335 square feet, 19 counter seats, a shared kitchen with Ad Hoc), but the area was/is short on other options. We all know Keller has been wanting to make this, his passion project, happen for more than a decade, so heavy odds are that it's going to happen in Napa at some point. But will Food Jesus opt for another Vegas outpost before then? More details as they come in.
