Napa Whines

New, 4 comments

With Camino's lack of local wines being the latest alert, the sky is falling for the Napa wine industry and a call-to-arms is required: "Our on-sale problem is the advent of young turk sommeliers. They are everywhere — soon to appear in burger joints. Restaurateurs have given these young people unprecedented power over the wine list. They don't really know us up here and we don't know them; most aren't from around here. So, even if the owner had some affinity for and loyalty to us, he or she isn't making the wine list decisions anymore. Worse, those old friends of ours are selling their places to some more young turks ... we cannot grow and sell $15 wines here." Young turks, get off this man's lawn. [NVR]
