Plywood Special: Good Cafe Replacing SoMa Pizza

SoMa: As if you needed any more proof that Chip Conley is taking over the Bay Area, we've learned that Joie de Vivre is responsible for the renovation at SoMa Pizza. (Conley and Co. are also redoing the adjacent Hotel Britton as The Good Hotel or as the website calls it, "the first hotel with a conscience.") Anyway, the shuttered pizza place—which was awful by nearly all accounts—is obviously getting a complete facelift, though the big pizza ovens will remain, and with them, a general pizzeria cafe theme. The working name for the project is Good Cafe, and we're hearing that JdV's corporate chef and Citizen Cake vet Jennifer Cox is developing the new menu. Late September is the estimate.
