Opening this week in theaters is Bottle Shock, a movie about the 1976 "Judgment of Paris" wine competition where Napa's Chateau Montelena wines defeated their famous French counterparts, putting California wines on the map for good. The Chronicle review is not very positive at all (the little man was sleeping; too much wine, obv), but our SoCal counterpart had this to say after a screening: "For us the movie was good--not 'Sideways great'--but good and entertaining (except for the wig Chris Pine wears as Bo Barett...horrible). A must-see for anyone interested in wine or Alan Rickman (he really steals it). Make plans for wine after or before--you'll want it. " [Chron/ELA]
