This week, the Punter is at Katana-ya, Union Square's hidden gem of a ramen specialist. Especially given the dearth of decent ramen joints, Katana-ya is a clear winner, and its invention of fried chicken ramen is nothing short of brilliance. Unterman's conclusion: "I've had some disappointing ramen in San Francisco with muddy broth and soggy noodles. But whenever I'm anywhere near Union Square, I start edging towards Katana-ya." [SFE]
