Laurel Heights: Judging by the surprising number of tipsters who dropped us notes over the long weekend about it, we'd guess that the shuttering of Cafe Lo Cubano made some waves over on California Street. As one person put it, the closure is "notable and sad" not only because it was a neighborhood institution, but because now Pac Heighters are relegated to either Starbucks or Peet's (that is, when they are not in their nice homes). But we have a feeling it's only a matter of time before the gourmet coffee mongers move north of Market to a whole new market of people who love to love their fancy coffee.
