Calorie Counting

That whole menu labeling controversy from earlier this summer that would require San Francisco chains to label health info starting in October could be entirely moot if Governor Arnold signs a new bill just approved by the state senate. The proposed state legislation—the first of its kinds—would make chain restaurants disclose only calorie facts beginning in 2011, and perhaps more notably, would also prohibit individual cities from adopting their own menu labeling ordinances. The bill is expected to pass. [ESF/Chron]
