Hayes Valley: Perhaps inspired by Slow Food Nation, Modern Tea has shuttered, but according to the goodbye note(s), it will only be a temporary closure. The restaurant will be transitioning from Modern Tea to Modern Cooks, a non-profit program that teaches local kids "about food and cooking inside a real restaurant." It looks like they are still trying to get the logistics worked out, so there's no word on a timeline, or whether a child equivalent of Delancey Street (the restaurant run by ex-convicts) is imminent, but Alice approves.
