EaterWire: Heaven's Dog Tonight, Pinkberry Tommorrow!

SOMA—Especially for times like these, the weekend will see a pair of massive openings. Up first, Phandemonium. We've tracked Charles Phan's Heaven's Dog since pre-plywood, and tonight, it finally makes its debut in the SoMa Grand. We'll take a look inside the Chinese joint next week, but for now, peruse the menu here, where you'll kindly note two things: 1) with the most expensive item at $15, it's priced for times like these and 2) there are Momofuku-esque pork buns. Also, be aware the adjacent lunchtime noodle shop won't be open until February. 1148 Mission Street, between 7th & 8th; (415) 863-6008 [EaterWire]

SANTANA ROW—Just in case you missed the news earlier this week, Northern California's first Pinkberry opens tomorrow down in San Jose. It's sure to be swirly, long-lines extravaganza for all involved. 3055 Olin Avenue, San Jose; (408) 551-4611; website [EaterWire]

NOE VALLEY—Brett Emerson shares an update on Contigo: "I'm almost ready to answer the question I'm asked several times a day: when will Contigo open? This week's big news is that we have started hiring! Contigo's fantastic new General Manager starts Monday. Our first order of business is to set an opening date and time table. Stay tuned for details." Go-Go-Contigo! [IPOS]

FIDI—Also hiring is another plywood regular, Joie de Vivre's Midi. From Craigslist: "We are planning for a middle of February 2009 hire date and a middle of March 2009 opening. Midi is a modern California brasserie 'without borders'. Located 'mid district' at the busy crossroads of San Francisco’s shopping and financial districts, the brasserie offers the traditional formula of three meals a day and a full bar." [CL]
