When Restaurateurs Do Bad Things

Sometimes fact is better than fiction, as is the case in this real-life restaurant war that saw a Monterey restaurant steal $3000 worth of pagers from its nearby rival. And there was an undercover sting involved: "... a covert operation in which Monterey police officers posed as customers at a competing Fisherman's Wharf restaurant and a diver discovered 10 pagers at the bottom of the harbor — allegedly under that same restaurant ... Though approximately 40 pagers went missing, authorities can connect Mercurio only to the one he allegedly took from the undercover officers." Oh, Monterey. [MN]
