Chron Food Section Named Tops (in the Whole Country!)

Congrats are in order for the Chronicle food and wine staffers, who, led by food editor Miriam Morgan and wine editor Jon Bonne, have been awarded the honor of Best Newspaper Coverage (Circulation 215,001 and Over) by the Association of Food Journalists.

The AFJ doled out a dozen food writer awards total, with the Seattle Weekly's Jonathan Kauffman taking home the prize for Best Newspaper Restaurant Criticism. A few more locals got honorable mention in other categories as well, including Stacy Finz (Best Newspaper Food Feature, “Mina?s Magic Touch"; Best Newspaper Food News Story, “Kitchen Cutbacks”) and Amanda Gold (Best Newspaper Food News Story: "Bay Area Consumers Can?t Stomach High Price of Bread”). And, hey look, even hometown warrior-god and Chex Mix recipe-sharer Michael Bauer was recognized as having the Best Food Blog in the country! But seriously though, many kudos to all at the Chron for the honor, and for some well-deserved validation in these tough times.
