SOMA—The other shoe drops on the imminent shuttering of Two, and it's a significant one: French Laundry alum Corey Lee will take the space and turn it into Benu. He's looking at a remodel job in early 2010 after Two moves out, with an opening date slated for spring. [Scoop]
FINANCIAL DISTRICT—Tomorrow (Thursday), Zinnia will celebrate its first birthday with a special menu. In addition to the normal menu, Sean O'Brien will also offer a special menu of six-plus courses for $59 and with an optional $29 wine pairing. That many courses for that price from a chef of O'Brien's caliber is a pretty nice deal, folks. [EaterWire]
AIRPORTS EVERYWHERE—Not only is Morimoto opening in Napa next year, but the Iron Chef is branching out and launching a chain of casual airport eateries: "The concept, to be called Skewers, will center around yakitori and will be Morimoto's interpretation of Japanese street food (no sushi at all). Prices will be well under $20 and as should be expected with an airport casual spot, the menu will have "broad appeal," meaning grilled and deep-fried meats and vegetables, all on the namesake skewers."
