Changes En Route For Baobab's 19th Street Empire

New, 5 comments

On the corner of 19th and Mission, a significant reorganization is in store for the mini-empire of Bissap Baobab, Little Baobab and Bollywood Cafe. Here's the breakdown. After 12 years, Bissap Baobab will close its current location on Mission Street and consolidate with Little Baobab a few doors down. For its part, Little Baobab will close the second half of November for a quick remodel and reopen as a full-time restaurant with the same name in early December.

The nightlife/cabaret/dancing aspect of Little Baobab will move next door to Bollyhood Cafe, which will be rebranded in December as Cafe Bissap. So basically, the three concepts will become two: a full-time restaurant (Little Baobab) and a more entertainment-centric one (Cafe Bissap).

As for the soon-to-be-vacated Bissap Baobab space next door to Cha Cha Cha and Specchio, word on the street is that it's going to be converted into a lounge-like endeavor, with a focus on Mediterranean/Italian food (apps, pizzas, etc.). More info on that as it comes in, but in the meantime, the tipline is open.
