1) Berkeley: A very excited Slice pretty much already wrote the book on Emilia's Pizzeria weeks ago in a preview, but the tiny Shattuck Avenue newcomer is finally, actually open. The star of the show is a gas oven that somehow tops 800 degrees, meaning it churns out thin-crust pizzas reminiscent of New York's coal-oven versions. Bonus: it looks like Emilia's might try to use Twitter to share their daily specials and alert everyone when they've run out of dough. 2995 Shattuck Avenue, at Ashby; website [EaterWire]
2) The Marina: Also on the pizza beat, plywood alum Patxi's sneakily opened its Fillmore spinoff yesterday. It's the second San Francisco location (and third overall) for the Hayes Valley Chicago-style pizzeria. With A16 always doing its thing, Delarosa on the way, and Pizza Orgasmica always a popular choice with the local crowd, the Marina suddenly has a plethora of pizza options. 3318 Fillmore Street, between Lombard and Chestnut; (415) 345-3995; website [EaterWire]
