The last few months have already seen Tyler Florence announce Wayfare Tavern in the old Rubicon space, a rotisserie restaurant in downtown Napa, and retail shops in both Napa and SFO, so what's one more project on the horizon? As it turns out, the latest Ty-Flo eatery to be revealed will probably be the first to open too: the Food Network star will join forces with fellow Marin semi-celebrity Sammy Hagar to take over Mill Valley's three-star El Paseo.
Per the Marin IJ, the revamped El Paseo will reopen in mid-December with an entirely new menu, new outdoor seating for that idyllic North Bay weather, artisanal hard ciders ("which are making a comeback"), whitewashed brick and hardwood floors. With regards to the new direction, Florence—the first-time restaurateur who, if all goes to plan, is about to have three restaurants open in a five-month span—proclaims that the new El Paseo "will be like Chez Panisse, but American rootsy, rustic." And instead of Alice Waters, you get Van Halen!
