With Nombe Nearing, Sozai Says So Long Tonight

New, 2 comments

Tonight is the last night for the Sunset's two-year-old Sozai. The 38-seat izakaya couldn't quite overcome its less-than-ideal location on a lonely stretch of Irving, which as it turned out, was not quite close enough to the Ninth Street area hub. At the finale tonight, there will be a host of drink and food specials. But the silver lining to this particular closing is a good one, since the Sozai folks (Gil Payne and wife/chef Mari Takahashi) are getting ready to debut their new izakaya concept, Nombe, in the Mission next week. Much more on Nombe soon, promise.
