LA Wine Guy to Open Heirloom in the Mission

The corner of 21st and Folsom has been dark for an eternity, but it's finally home to some action: Los Angeles import Matt Straus—last seen as the wine director at Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica—is looking to build out the space. It's going to be called Heirloom, and from the looks of his catering company, it's a restaurant concept that he's been thinking about for a while (see sample menus here). The Folsom space itself bears a strong resemblance to fellow corner inhabitant Schmidt's just a block away; a peek behind the plywood reveals a very raw interior.
