As you may have heard, hotel strikes are the new black here in San Francisco. The latest number started yesterday and involved workers at the Westin St. Francis. Caught in the cross-fire at the walk-out: the hotel strike shut down Michael Mina last night. As it turns out, the celebrity chef's flagship restaurant will stay dark until Saturday night service, at which point the strike is scheduled to be complete. See, Mina (the chef) wasn't joking about the, ahem, challenges of running a restaurant in a union environment. It should be noted, however, that Mina's Clock Bar is still open across the lobby.
