Zinnia Confirms That It Will Close at Year's End

The rumblings have been growing louder recently, and now comes the sad confirmation that Zinnia will close its doors on December 31. According to Patricia Hughes-O'Brien, she and her husband, chef/owner Sean O'Brien, decided it was the right time to make the difficult move. The recession had been taking its toll on Zinnia, and with the positive holiday uptick in numbers, they decided to close the restaurant while they were up, rather than risk playing catch-up in the uncertain months of January and February. The space—which housed the Cypress Club and Scott Howard before Zinnia opened in October '08—is currently on the market.
