Behold Melissa Perello's Long-Awaited Frances

Here we have a look around the shiny new interior of Frances, Melissa Perello's new Castro restaurant that opened just last night. As noted previously, the space—which used to be Palencia—encompasses just under 50 seats, including a handful at the bar. Michael Baushke (who also did Ubuntu) is responsible for the design, and there's a monotype black and white photo series currently adorning the walls. As for the food side of the equation, it's clear from a look at the menu that Perello is blending her fine dining background (Fifth Floor, Charles Nob Hill, Aqua) with an approachable neighborhood restaurant.
