Gracias Madre Opens, Acme Chophouse Officially Gone

New, 3 comments

THE MISSION—Cafe Gratitude spinoff Gracias Madre rolled out over the long weekend. The plywood vet is serving vegan Mexican cuisine, and according to the website, their mission is love and the restaurant represents their "devotion to the Earth and the divine feminine." So, there's that. NB: they're not open tonight but tomorrow, they'll be open 11AM to 11PM, going forward daily. 2211 Mission Street between 18th and 19th; 415-683-1346, website [EaterWire]

SOMA—Just a reminder that, right on schedule, the holiday weekend was also the end of the line for Acme Chophouse as you know it. Next up: Mijita and Public House. [EaterWire, previously]

OAKLAND—Just in case The Year in Eater version and Bauer's list wasn't enough "top newcomer" talk for you, the Wall Street Journal names its top three newbies too. Along with NYC's A Voce Columbus and the Midwest's June, Commis gets recognized. [WSJ]

NEW YORK CITY—Some whimsy news for fans of MTV's Jersey Shore: last week, after the NY Post "reported" that the show's trashy stars were seen hanging out at NYC hotspot, the Eldridge, the club's owner responded to the paper, noting "the cast of Jersey Shore has never stepped foot into The Eldridge, ever." Hate to see that. [NYP]
