SOMA—As noted in tomorrow's Scoop, Aussie import South will be undergoing a switcheroo, and not just with newish chef Jennifer Puccio. South will shutter next weekend (December 19) and then reopen in early February as a non-Aussie restaurant that is not called South. Also, Luke Mangan is no longer a partner. [Scoop/EaterWire]
HAYES VALLEY—So much Absinthe buzz today. With Jeff Hollinger and Jonny Raglin turning their focus to the upcoming Comstock Saloon, the restaurant has announced that Carlos Yturria has been appointed the full-time bar manager at Absinthe. [EaterWire]
THE MISSION—We haven't done much New Year's Eve coverage around these parts yet, but here's one item that's worth special note: for the first time ever, Flour + Water will be completely open to advance reservations. There will be three seatings for a $70 prix fixe menu that includes an amuse bouche, starter, pasta, secondi plus dessert, with two choices each course. [EaterWire]
