EaterWire: Go-Go-Contigo, Begg's Back, Urban Tavern Makes Some Tweaks

NOE VALLEY—Don't look now, but Brett Emerson has set a firm date for the grand opening of his much-anticipated Contigo (for reals this time, we're assuming). Tuesday, March 3rd is the new aim, and staff training is currently in full swing. [IPOS]

SAN FRANCISCO—Back in summer '08, rising star chef Ian Begg and sommelier Ryan Maxey were let go from Cafe Majestic, but the pair is looking for a new space, according to tomorrow's Scoop. The plan is to open a "Basque-style gastropub" with late-night dining and a full bar. [Scoop]

UNION SQUARE—It's been a busy month at Urban Tavern at the Hilton since Laurent Manrique pulled out, and was later followed out the door by chef Patrick Kehler. Now, Chad Newton (last seen at Baraka) is the new chef de cuisine and has implemented new prix fixe menus for lunch ($21.95) and dinner ($34.95), which in essence extend the Dine About Town specials. Also, Urban Tavern will give you five hours of free parking if you eat there. In Union Square, that's not bad at all. [EaterWire]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT—Next Thursday (February 26), Perbacco is hosting an Italian Winemaker Evening with winemaker Sergio Germano of Germano Ettore Winery. Perbacco will offer its full menu, plus five special risottos, including one with frog legs. [EaterWire]
