Novato: Behold the second Marin location of Toast, now about a week old. In terms of menu offerings and such, it's a close sibling of the Mill Valley original, with chef Michael Garcia manning both kitchens, but at this point, the Novato location is probably better known for its noteworthy design. Owner Shahram Bijan enlisted renowned architect Stanley Saitowitz, and as you can see, it's impossible to ignore the stylish space. It's Saitowitz's second restaurant design (his first being the Mission's Conduit), complete with hanging columns, a brick pizza oven, fireplace, high ceilings and plenty of toast-inspired design details. Take a look around the place in the gallery above; further reading can be had in the archives.
