Before hitting up Alinea later this week, Alice Waters made a visit to NYC's Per Se, and according to a BlackBook tipster, all didn't go well for the increasingly-irksome Waters: "Sent back her entrée, a duck breast, for it was 'oversalted' ... she proceeded to explain how she would have done a vegetable preparation differently ... There was also an interruption of the presentation of chocolates to complain about something else." Update: PR calls to say the diner must have mistaken "two other ladies" for Waters and a companion.
