Moneymakers: Just Four Locals on Top Grossing List

Restaurants & Institutions' annual tally of America's top-grossing independent restaurants has been released, and as in 2008, only four Bay Area restaurants warranted spots on the list of 100 restaurant that is mostly dominated by New York and Vegas destinations. And it's the same quartet of locals as last year too:

#27) The Slanted Door: $15,495,332
#30) Scoma's: $15,229,280
#57) Boulevard: $12,697,753
#83) Cliff House: $11,500,000

Compared to last year's numbers though, it's a huge catapult for the Slanted Door, from its standing at #70 all the way up to becoming the top grossing restaurant in California. For what's it worth, the top five overall remain the same: Tao (Vegas), Tavern on the Green (NYC), Joe's Stone Crab (Miami), Smith & Wollensky (NYC) and Tao (NYC).
