Luisa Spot Check Redux: La Vinoteca/Mama Mia FOR SALE

New, 6 comments

Cow Hollow: Last week, it came out that Luisa Hanson has put both her Nob Hill projects up for lease, which was quite the surprise, given the amount of trouble (not to mention money) it took to procure them. Now, about a month after reopening as the Guy Fieri-endorsed Mama Mia, her Union Street spinoff—which displaced Skipjack Sushi upon arrival—is now brandishing "For Sale" signage. To make matters more troubling, the liquor license has revocation pending due to non-payment.

According to Ms. Hanson, the Cow Hollow restaurant, which is run by her brother, "just isn't panning out" so they've decided to sell it. As of today, she says she'll keep Mama Mia open until a buyer is found, though the restaurant is serving the exact same menu as Luisa's a block away, except for the pizza addition. Given the times (and the pricetag), she doesn't expect the restaurant to sell quickly.
