The AIA Los Angeles chapter has announced its finalists for its annual Restaurant Design Awards. Unsurprisingly, the majority of the candidates hail from SoCal, but nonetheless, San Francisco has a pair of contenders: Yoshi's in the lounge/nightclub category and Kara's Cupcakes in the cafe category. We don't entirely understand the selection process either, but congrats to the local duo, who are now engaged in a People's Choice vote a la American Idol. [AIA via Curbed LA]
