Trouble at Monterey Market

2009_05_monterey.jpgA "philosophical" tiff within the Fujimoto family has spurred quite the drama at Berkeley's fabled Monterey Market. The details are murky, but Bill Fujimoto has submitted his resignation, causing a panic among local chefs who fear a change at the market. Thus, Zuni's Judy Rodgers has proposed a boycott: "[Bill's siblings] are confident the revenue stream will continue as in the past. I hope we can aggressively shatter these beliefs. There may be other issues in the dispute, but if the numbers aren't going to pan out, why would they want to own and run the market?" Pull up a chair and grab some popcorn, because this show is just starting. [BauerBlog, photo]
