EaterWire: Manresa Al Fresco, Hooters Sued, More!

Have a hot tip for EaterWire? Please feel free to share with the class.

BAY AREA—Hard to believe, we know, but according to a lawsuit, the four local Hooters locations are being accused of taking advantage of their waitresses by stealing their tips and all kinds of other labor violations. Also, this might be the first and last time you see Manresa and Hooters mentioned in the same place. [Chron]

THE HAIGHT—All those grand plans for that 34,000 square foot Whole Foods location in the Haight have been officially scrapped. As for the reason, the (would-be) developer blamed "high city fees and the economic downturn." [BT via Curbed]

PALO ALTO—Oh dear. Via SFist comes news of a terrible cleaver attack at "fine Shanghai cuisine" restaurant Jade Palace on California Avenue. The victim, currently in critical condition, was found in the kitchen with "three to four stab wounds to the face and torso." Palo Alto police are looking for leads; if you know anything, please call them at 650-329-2413. [SFist]
