The old Les Amis building gets reborn today at Wexler's, the modern BBQ concept from Charlie Kleinman, last seen at Fish & Farm. As seen from the myriad writeups below, there's been a healthy media push, and being the only trendy/upscale-ish BBQ place in town (right?) it should be interesting to see Kleinman translate the 'cue tradition to a California version. The cocktail program has had some early raves, and the centerpiece of the design is obviously ol' Smokey. The location could be prove to be a challenge (inevitable references to Jeanty, Rubicon), but it's close to several major areas and in time, the FiDi lunch crowd could be a boon too.
