1) The Peninsula: Earlier this week, Donato Enoteca made its debut down south, becoming the latest notable to open in Redwood City. Chef/owner Donato Scotti (formerly of La Strada) is doing rustic Italian cuisine, including handmade pastas and in-house charcuterie like lamb prosciutto. There are only 45 seats in the main dining room, plus another 40 or so in the bar/enoteca area. Open for lunch and dinner. 1041 Middlefield Drive, Redwood City; (650) 701-1000; website [EaterWire]
2) SoMa: Now open on Folsom is a small coffeeshop by the name of Vega. It's from the same owners as Cento, and for now, they're serving Blue Bottle coffee out of a Lambretta machine during the weekdays only, from 8am to 3:30pm. 1246 Folsom Street, between Eighth and Ninth [EaterWire]
3) The Peninsula: More happenings from the Peninsula: Sakoon, an upscale Indian restaurant in Mountain View, opened last Friday. Sakoon is notable because its chef Sachin Chopra is a CIA Hyde Park grad, worked at NYC's Daniel and lately, has been doing the upscale Indian thing at Amber India and Mantra. That, and we wanted to run the above shot of the very vibrant interior. 357 Castro Street, Mountain View; (650) 965-2000; website [EaterWire]
