North Beach: Breaking hot off the EaterWire: after entertaining North Beach festival-goers (and how!) two weeks ago, Tony Gemignani procured the last of his permits this morning and will open Tony's Pizza Napoletana this Saturday for lunch and dinner. To quickly recap, Gemignani made his name as the eight-time champion pizza tosser, but he's also a certified pizzaiolo, and his new North Beach pizza restaurant/school is backed by the oldest pizza school in Italy, Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli. There are three pizza ovens involved: wood-burning (above in the dining room), electric brick and gas brick. In other words, despite the tossing theatrics, it's trying be a serious pizza joint, so it should be very interesting to see how it pans out.
