The Great Froyo Melt, Cont.: Yogurt Bar Sees Itself Out

New, 1 comment

Cow Hollow: Once upon a time (2007), the Union Street location of Yogurt Bar was the first of the new-age, LA-inspired frozen yogurt joints to open in San Francisco. Since then, the city has certainly been subject to a froyo boom, but lately, the yogurt shops have been dying off rather quickly. The SoMa offshoot of Yogurt Bar closed back in December (with dubious promises of a summer return), and over the weekend, the flagship Cow Hollow location called it quits too, sans mention of a comeback in either location. Granted, Pinkberry still has those big Bay Area expansion plans, but as the local imitators continue to go by the wayside, the question is inevitable: has the froyo trend officially topped out?
