2009_07_5a5.jpgMikey Two Stars goes steak-lounging at 5A5, Jackson Square's newish hybrid of a white-tablecloth restaurant and a swank lounge. For the most part, the steak-centric menu is impressive ("there's lots to recommend about Allen Chen's food"), but the service needs work, and MB rarely takes a liking to overtly trendy places: "The staff makes every effort to be pleasant, but the servers aren't ready for prime time ... The interior, too, trying to be both a lounge and steakhouse, doesn't feel all that comfortable." Final grade: two stars. [Chron]
