Street Food: Now With New Permits?

New, 6 comments

2009_06_streets.jpgWith a new permit program in the works, the city wants to make it "easier" (and more legal) for street vendors and possibly ambitious restaurateurs to populate parks. The problem? Said permits would cost a minimum of $1K a month, which is definitely a steep overhead for a low-volume operation run by either a hipster hobbyist or cash-strapped restaurant. So really, the city is trying to figure out a way to make money off the Creme Brulee Man. Surely this will get the budget back on track. [SFE]
