COFFEE WARS—Once again, Peet's posted a profit last quarter, and now the coffee joint has also signed a licensing partnership with chocolate hotshots Godiva. [BT]
THE MISSION—Last seen at Magnolia and headed to Thad Vogler's Bar Agricole this fall, Brandon Jew is the guest chef at Mission Street Food this week, and he's concocting MSF's first Chinese food night. [MSFWire]
MEDIA—And the award for the most unintentionally-hilarious article of the day goes to Elle, which lists the 10 Most Dangerous Foods. On the list are silent killers like milk, tomatoes, cantaloupes and water, but the best line goes to that nefarious widowmaker, alfalfa: "Sprouts provide the perfect garnish to a tuna or veggie-packed sandwich, but they are often harbingers of bacteria." Dun dun dun! [Elle via TFB]
THE MISSION—Foreign Cinema has been celebrating its 10th anniversary all since January with a three-course prix fixe, but the birthday party will come to an apex with an all-day party on August 20. Nonstop, baby: "Magicians, dancers, henna artists, acrobats and jugglers will offer nonstop excitement and entertainment while guests sip cocktails and enjoy bites from the Foreign Cinema kitchen all night long." Tickets are $65 and can be purchased at 415-648-7600. Proceeds go to charity. [EaterWire]
