Rumormongering: A Brewpub Grows on Market Street

New, 4 comments

Hayes Valley/Central Market: Almost directly across the street from Zuni and CAV, a humble bodega by the name of Nick's Foods has lost its lease and will soon close. Normally, this turn of events wouldn't be too significant, except for the project expected to take over: Anthony Lavia—also of Matador, Ace Cafe and the upcoming Little Sparrow on Valencia—has applied for brewpub license, complete with a DBA of Central Market Brewing. In the same vein as 21st Amendment, a brewpub is defined thusly by the state: "a bona fide eating place plus a limited amount of brewing of beer [that] also authorizes the sale of beer and wine only for consumption off the premises where sold." So. Who's ready for a new mini-brewery?
