The Castro: For a change, a restaurant will actually arrive earlier than originally expected next week, when Starbelly makes its debut next Tuesday. You'll recall that Starbelly is the new "California comfort food" project from Deborah Blum and Adriano Paganini (probably better known as Team Beretta) in the old Asqew Grill space on Market and 16th. Adam Timney—last seen at Boccalone—is running the kitchen, so there should be some housemade charcuterie on the menu, along with the expected pizzas, bar program and such. Like its big sis, Starbelly will do the late-night thing too, staying open until midnight.
Update, 6pm: Just to be 120% clear here, Starbelly is a totally different concept from Beretta, with the only carryovers being Blum and Paganini. It's a 100-seat cafe/eatery with a back patio, serving beers, wine and non-hard liquor cocktails only. A pizza oven and rotisserie are involved too, with other menu items like a burger and more.
