The Shutter: Jade Bar Makes Way For Smuggler's Cove

Hayes Valley: The summer of lame-duck status for Jade Bar has come to pass, and the three-story bar has finally closed its doors for good. The lovable Jade Bar leaves behind a legacy of a one-way mirror in the bathroom, one of the better happy hours in town, $2 drink specials, and a water installation oddly reminiscent of a nice mall. Moving into 650 Gough is cocktail master Martin Cate and his tour de force, Smuggler's Cove, the tiki bar which is already considered one of the most anticipated openings of late 2009. The current due date remains November. And away we go.
