To be sure, criticizing the out-of-touch, holier-than-thou aspects of Alice Waters, Michael Pollan and company is nothing new (right, Tony?), but in an op-ed for the LA Times, Charlotte Allen adds to the chorus of echoes. And how. The best part is when (a very feisty) Allen asserts that the whole pay-more-for-food movement isn't even like Marie Antoinette's famous cake pronouncement: "It's more like Marie Antoinette dressing up in her shepherdess costume and holding court in a fake rustic cottage at the Petit Trianon." But at least we know what Alice should be for Halloween this year. [LAT]
