Up in the North Bay, the PressDem brings word that Sassafras—a "Santa Rosa institution"—shuttered after one last New Year's Eve bash. Chef-owner Jack Mitchell tells BiteClub that though a return is possible, things don't look very good: "The rent has gone up and the business went down last year...We've been around for seven and a half years as Sassafras and the concept may have run its course."
