Ecco Caffe Potrero To Open This Year; Here's the Layout

The salient details about Ecco Caffe's epic move from Santa Rosa to Potrero Hill have been revealed: owner Andrew Barnett is a Bay Area coffee legend of sorts, the site in Potrero Hill will be completely revamped by Douglas Burnham of Envelope Architecture + Design who did Delfina, Commis and others; and the finished product will include a transparent roasting facility, a barista training lab and seasonal roasts sourced in partnership with Chicago's revered Intelligentsia. Now hot on the heels of this interview where Burnett reveals he's "within 12 weeks of roasting," we reveal the floor plan from this this Planning Department notice, shown in the gallery above.

It'll show you precisely how the 5000-square-foot space will be laid out. Note: the coffee bar you see above will take up 1500 of said square feet and lead roaster/2008 U.S. Barista Championship winner Drew Cattlin will take up roughly two square feet behind that from time to time. [EaterWire]
