Bauer-San bellies up to the table at Ippuku in Berkeley, loosening things up from the start with chef Christian Geideman's "wild" chicken tartare. Amidst our declared infatuation with Japanese cuisine, Ippuku "goes further than any place else." Although the staff is a bit "lax," dishes are so pleasing that Bauer ends up "eating as if I hadn't seen food in a week" and ties it all together with a three star rating overall. [Chron]
