TENDERLOIN - Jones is not really soft-opening tonight, as expected. The floors were just poured and things are 85% done, sufficient for a little neighborhood peek this evening from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Then things will shutter up again until the bar portion's grand opening on the 15th. The kitchen and dining aspects will roll out in early November. [EaterWire]
NOB HILL - The opening of Contraband Coffee in the old John Barleycorn spot has been moved from mid-July to late-October. Owner Josh Magnani just added Dynamo Donuts to the list of Mission Beach Cafe croissants, scones and muffins that will be served. Five Mountain teas, empanadas and peasant pies will also be offered. Now the third wave Synesso machine is waiting in the wings as the metal bar build out is completed. Magnani hopes to run the bar portion of the shop with a European line-free ordering style and he's going to see how things go with the free Wifi at the start. [EaterWire]
