The Untermobile cruises to the Upper Haight to try Parada 22, where San Juan-based Gloria Pinette develops the menu of Puerto Rican comfort food. Untz likes the rice, beans and seems mildly pleased with most items: "the menu is small and the cooking simple." And it's clear which item revs her engine most: "I’ve never tasted a better version of this raffish toasted sandwich, the classic Cubano ($9) filled with roasted pork, smoked ham, sliced pickles, melty swiss cheese, mustard and a swatch of lubricating “secret sauce,” reassuringly pink, savory-sweet and piquant."
